19. Monte San Costanzo (490 m)

We left the beach of Recommone and we continue towards the last stretch of Alta Via dei Monti Lattari. From the sea level, from the Marina del Cantone beach, we begin the climb towards Monte San Costanzo at 490m from the sea.

We follow Via Cantone which takes us from the marina to the village of Nerano following the small town street and steps to the center where there is the church of the Santissimo Salvatore . Here you can finally rest for a while, take advantage of the nearby bar and the fountain to refuel with water.

Continue the 300CAI following the path Via Ieranto , the same path that allows you to go down to the famous Bay of Ieranto . Shortly after the start of the road, you immediately meet the crossroads towards Ieranto and Monte San Constanzo, we continue to the left to begin an arduous climb in the vegetation.

Leaving the vegetation and you reach an opening on the wonderful panorama of the Sorrento peninsula and the Bay of Ieranto and the Saracen Montalto observation tower . There are a few truly extraordinary kilometers along the gentle climb towards the pine forest of San Costanzo . You reach a crossroads from which the ascent to the monastery of the mountain begins, which deserves a small detour for its view.

For Punta Campanella continue crossing the pine forest of the same name at the foot of the mount to reach the extreme tip of the peninsula from which you begin to glimpse the beautiful Cala di Mitigliano against the backdrop of Capri and the Gulf of Naples.

We recommend a separate excursion to the beautiful Bay of Ieranto, with its inestimable historical and naturalistic value, natural area protected by FAI .
