What to take with you – Recommended materials

This list constitutes advice on the minimum technical equipment needed to tackle a 3-day trek of the Alta Via dei Monti Lattari.
Each hiker is fully responsible for his or her own choice of equipment, with the understanding that certain accessories remain essential (indicated in bold).

TO WEAR.
  • Technical jersey
  • Technical pants (preferably stretchable)
  • Technical socks
  • Technical underwear
  • High hiking shoes (sculpted sole)
  • Buff neck warmer
  • Technical sunglasses
  • Cap with visor
  • Telescopic poles
  • Cell phone
EQUIPMENT IN THE BACKPACK
  • Waterproof bag in which to put all the clothes
  • Soft shell / fleece jersey
  • Waterproof jacket (shell)
  • Lightweight gloves
  • 2 spare technical jerseys
  • Lightweight down jacket
  • 1 long-sleeved shirt
  • Wool cap
  • 1 cotton shirt
  • 1 spare pant
  • 2 spare technical socks
  • 1 pair of warm socks, for the evening
  • 2 spare underwear
  • Sunscreen + after-sun
  • Cocoa butter
  • First aid medical kit (thermal sheet, disinfectant, gauze, band-aids, compeed, tweezers, scissors, anti-inflammatory, sunburn cream)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Lightweight microfiber towel
  • Travel hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap)
  • Map of the area (paper or digital)
  • Waterproof envelope for electrical devices
  • Camera
  • Powerbank + phone charging cable
  • Head flashlight
  • Multipurpose pocket knife
  • Whistle
  • Backpack rain cover
  • Biodegradable handkerchiefs
  • Windproof lighter
  • 2 biodegradable plastic bags (for dirty clothes + garbage)
  • Document holder
  • 1.5 liters of water per person (minimum!)
  • Snacks: bars / muesli / dried fruit / chocolate
  • Packed lunch
